Dear Neighbor,
I was elected to the New Mexico House of Representatives to represent District 42 in November 2020. I am not a career politician, though I have always worked in service to my community. That is how I was raised, and how I raise my girls. I have gone on to have a career in leadership within the nonprofit sector, focusing primarily on resolving land and water issues.
I moved to Taos nearly 12years ago, drawn by the land, water and light that has sustained this community for millennia. I am raising my two children here in Taos and I am also a proud Lobo—I received my Masters in Public Administration at the University of New Mexico. I have served as the Executive Director of the Taos Land Trust for eight years, where I work with elected leaders to develop legislation to protect and expand private and public lands and clean water for all New Mexicans. This community supports and sustains me and my family; I am rooted here, and I feel a deep passion to serve Northern New Mexico.
Our district is growing and changing. Some of my favorite things to do in the district are hiking on our incredible trails,
As a mother, community member, and advocate, I understand the importance of investing in our children’s educational future, health and safety. Last session I was proud to champion legislation that ensures we are taking care of our teachers by increasing teacher pay at every level and paying teachers as they start their residency programs. We worked with the justice system and law enforcement to pay our judges and law enforcement better wages, and we put money in the budget to fund wrap around services - knowing that in order to keep our communities safe we must do what we can to address underlying issues like addiction and behavioral health.
It’s been an honor to serve as your State Representative. I humbly ask for your support for my re-election to continue to serve the district.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns. I look forward to hearing from you.
All my best,
